The state has again succeeded in securing the second
funding for the Conditional Grant scheme (CGS) of the Paris
club debt relief gains from the office of the Senior
Special Assistant to the president on MDGs. The sum of
NGN98,744,825.00, was released after the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris
released 50% counterpart funding to
the tune of NGN98,740,825, totaling NGN197,485,650.
Previously, the sum of NGN309,806,268.00 was first
released after the Executive Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris approved and released 50% counterpart funding
of NGN309,806,268.00 totaling NGN619,612,537.00 and these
funds
would be disbursed and used for these three major projects / programmes:
(i) Upgrade and rehabilitation of PHCs
(ii) Hand pump boreholes
(iii) Roll back malaria project.
To this level, we can see the determination of His
Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris to the development of
kogi state by releasing counterpart funding of 50% so that
the other part can be released.
In summary, the Governor has earmarked
NGN 816 Million
Naira for the MDG/CGS project.
Meanwhile, tentative list of pre-qualified contractors /
consultants to tender for CGS-MDGs programmes and projects
2008.
